2 ethyl hexanol (octanol;2-EH)

Physical and chemical properties: colorless and transparent liquid with a special smell, boiling point of about 184°C, slightly soluble in water, easily soluble in organic solvents.
- Main uses:
- Plasticizer: production of phthalate plasticizers (such as DOP), used in plastic products such as PVC.
- Solvent: used in the manufacture of coatings, inks and surfactants.
- Intermediates: synthetic lubricants, fragrances and pesticides.
